Merry Men2 Hits Over 185Million Naira Just few days After Release

StandUp Comedian/Actor, Ayo Makun popularly known as AY celebrates the growth of his movie, #MerryMen2.

According to the comic actor, he almost got discouraged by critics who actually encouraged people not to see this movie after it was released but having Nigerian movie legends like Ramson Nuah, Jim yike and spice with young talented actors like Falz, the Bahd Guy, Williams Uchemba, Alex Amuche Sandra and many more.

 

Few days ago AY took to his IG page to share his joy on the rapid growth of the Movie, #MerryMen2 and as well shared experience on releasing.

Few days into the opening of #MerryMen2 someone tweeted to discourage people from going to see the movie. He even gave them basic ideas of what they should do with their 115 minutes rather than go see the movie. Under his tweet thread, another said he or she cannot even stand anything Ay, not to talk of going to see his movies.
The human side of me got me broken because i thought we had made a good film. I almost let the noise of someone who has never made a 5 minutes skit to drown out my inner voice. Like i would always say, It’s ok to be a critic and have a personal opinion, but why sell it as a standard for everyone else to follow? What happened to constructive criticism? Even if you have the need to compare Nollywood to Hollywood, why don’t you also look at it from the opportunities that we are both opened to?

Criticism is good for every industry, especially when it is coming from an Authority. Today i want to thank God for the collective counter opinions confirming that our efforts were noticed and appreciated.

Having said that it is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.
The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

If Merry Men 2 is presently the Nollywood highest grossing film in the cinemas, and also making it as the 5th Ay film to be on the list of 10 highest grossing Nollywood films from 2010 to 2019, THEN HE MUST AT LEAST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT TO BE ENCOURAGED AND CELEBRATED
