This comes just days after the Blues completed the double signing of Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva.

Declan Rice currently plays with the Hammers ‘West Ham’, And the club is putting him up in the market for sale to any interested club.

Chelsea have already completed five major signings this summer but Frank Lampard wants the Englishman to bolster his midfield.

West Ham value Rice at around £80million but Chelsea will be hoping they can get the versatile midfielder for a cut off price of £60million.

Sale of the 21-year-old is expected to boost David Moyes’ transfer kitty as he cannot buy without raising funds from his squad.

The west London side has also signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax star and Timo Werner in recent months.

However, Lampard is said to be keen on a move for Rice to further bolster his line up ahead of the new season.

It is understood that Chelsea are already closing in on a deal for Kai Havertz and are now plotting a move for Rice.

According to Goal.com, the Blues have made an improved bid of €20 million (£18m, $24m, N7.7bn) for Mendy as they seek to sign him from Rennes.

It was gathered that Rennes rejected Chelsea’s offer of €17m (£15m, $20m, N6.5bn) for Mendy last week but Frank Lampard’s side are back with an improved bid.
