Sport: Cristiano Ronaldo Names Ex Man United Coach, Alex Ferguson As The Best Coach Ever

Cristiano Ronaldo has recounted how Sir Alex Ferguson helped him develop from boyhood to manhood during his six-year reign at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and won three Premier Leagues, one Champions League title and a Ballon d’Or award. During his spell with the Red Devils, the 35-year-old encountered some personal issues but revealed that the legendary manager helped him get through his trying moment.

Although the forward has achieved more after leaving the Premier League club, he insisted that Ferguson remains the best coach he has played for in his professional career as quoted by The Mirror. He said:

“In terms of personal stuff I just have to say, ‘Thank you for what you did for me.’ “Especially, I remember, the thing that is in my memory, the time my father was sick in hospital and we were in a tough moment in the season.

We had important games in the Champions League and league, and I said ‘Coach, I need to go and see my daddy’. “And I was a key player, a very important player. And he said ‘Listen your family is the most important thing you have in your life. “If you want to go for three days, four days, five days, you can go.

And for me, he is the best coach I ever had.”

The Juventus striker who tested positive for the disease while on international duty with Portugal has been out of action for two weeks. Two other tests have been conducted to get the 35-year-old ready for Juve’s anticipated Champions League clash with Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.
